Chemical composition of CBX

As its name suggests, cannabioxepan is composed of oxepan. Oxepan is an organic molecule belonging to the category of saturated heterocycles. This implies a ring of seven members, including an oxygen atom.

It should be noted that it comes from the C. Sativa flower variety from a greenhouse cultivation in Rovigo (Italy), where a reference sample is kept.

Here are the various phases of the chemical synthesis of cannabioxepan:

Initially, the flowering tops of C. sativa (stems covered with abundant small flowers, the entirety of which is utilized) are harvested. These are then dried and exposed to a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius for 2.5 hours in a circulating air oven to decarboxylate the pre-cannabinoids. Once cooled to room temperature, the plant material was extracted with acetone. Following these procedures, solvent removal produced a gummy residue, which was distributed among various aqueous solutions and then fractionated into aqueous methanol and petroleum ether. Next, the polar phase—that is, the polar compounds, which are collected first, unlike in conventional chromatography—was purified and concentrated using CH2Cl2. Regarding the organic phase, it was dehydrated (with Na2SO4), then evaporated to obtain a black gum (10 g) which was subsequently purified by flash chromatography on silica. This process is repeated several times with variations.

Once these steps are completed, cannabioxepane is obtained.

It is likely that CBX will soon be classified in the same category as CBF, given that the two compounds are almost identical to a pure oxygen molecule.

CBX is known for its anti-inflammatory effects (according to the ACS Publication website), the impacts on the human body remain to be determined, but many products sold by pharmaceutical companies are intended for medical therapeutic use.
