What is cannabigerol (CBG)?

Cannabigerol (CBG) is a type of cannabinoid obtained from the cannabis plant. It is often called the mother of all cannabinoids. Indeed, other cannabinoids are
derived from cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), an acidic form of CBG. Other more common cannabinoids obtained from cannabis plants include cannabidiol (CBD) and
tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBG is found in smaller amounts than other cannabinoids in cannabis plants. In most strains of the plant, we find only 1% CBG compared to 20 to 25% CBD or 25 to 30% THC. This makes consumer products derived from the cannabinoid rare and often expensive. However, CBG is growing in popularity due to the multitude of potential benefits the cannabinoid has to offer.

How is CBG made?

CBG is derived from young cannabis plants because they contain higher amounts of CBG than fully grown plants. Some cannabis strains like White CBG, Super Glue CBG, and Jack Frost CBG also have higher CBG content than other strains. These strains are specifically bred to produce higher amounts of CBG. Both CBD and THC start with CBGA, an acidic form of CBG. This is why younger cannabis plants contain higher concentrations of CBG.

In fully grown plants with high concentrations of THC and CBD, you will find very low concentrations of CBG. This happens because most of the CBG has already been converted to CBD and THC as the plant grew. Due to the difficulty of obtaining CBG, cannabis growers have experimented with crossbreeding and genetic manipulation to help cannabis plants produce more CBG.

How does CBG work?

To date, two cannabis receptors have been identified in the human body. These are simply CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are found in the nervous system and the brain, while CB2 receptors are found in the immune system and other parts of the body. CBG binds to these receptors and stimulates anandamide, a neurotransmitter that plays a role in appetite, depression, inflammation, and pain, among other things.

Potential Benefits of CBG

Like CBD, CBG has been used to combat pain without having the intoxicating effect of cannabinoids like THC. Research shows that CBG may also have therapeutic effects. However, human studies on this are rare and more research needs to be conducted in this area. Some promising animal studies show that CBG may ultimately be useful for the following therapeutic benefits listed below. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Inflammatory bowel disease is a condition that causes chronic inflammation of the intestine. It affects millions of people around the world and is incurable. An experimental animal study conducted in 2013 observed the beneficial effects of CBG on inflammatory bowel diseases.

The researchers induced IBD-like inflammations in the colons of mice and then administered CBG. CBG has been found to reduce inflammation and nitric oxide production. It also reduced the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the intestines. They concluded that CBG should be considered for clinical testing in IBD patients. Glaucoma In an animal study, researchers found that CBG had therapeutic potential for the treatment of glaucoma. Researchers gave CBG to cats with glaucoma and noticed a reduction in eye pressure and an increase in the outflow of aqueous humor, a fluid produced by the eye that maintains eye pressure and nourishes the eye. eye.

Huntington's disease

Huntington's disease is a disease that causes damage to nerve cells in the brain. In a 2015 study, researchers examined the potential neuroprotective properties of CBG and other cannabinoids in mice that had an experimental model of Huntington's disease. CBG has been observed to act as a neuroprotectant, protecting the nerve cells in your brain from damage. It also improves motor deficits and preserves striatal neurons against the toxicity of 3-nitropropionic acid.4

Antibacterial properties

A 2020 study on the antibiotic potential of cannabis found that CBG has antibacterial properties. Especially against methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a bacteria that causes staph infections and is drug resistant. Fighting Cancer Cells In a 2014 study, researchers observed the effects of CBG on rats with colon cancer. They observed that CBG showed promise in blocking receptors that cause cancer cell growth and inhibiting the growth of colorectal cancer cells. They suggested that the use of CBG should be considered translationally in the cure and prevention of colon cancer.

Benefits: stimulates the appetite, soothes inflammation and pain thanks to anandamide stimulated by CBG, calms anxiety and promotes well-being, improves the appearance of the skin, increases alertness
and concentration, anti-inflammatory according to certain studies and visibly on our customers, can help treat
glaucoma according to certain studies, can be beneficial in cases of bladder problems, beneficial for the brain, helps fight against bad bacteria, can slow down the growth of cancer cells and other tumors according to some studies.

PAIN, INFLAMMATION, SLEEP:

CBG acts considerably on inflammation and pain thanks to its effectiveness on all types of inflammation.
The endocannabinoid system is connected to many organs in our body, so it will distribute essential cannabinoids to the right place and at the right time.
Indeed, if the inflammation is reduced then the pain will also be reduced. We really feel, after a few doses of sublingual CBG oil, muscle relaxation as well as in the tendons and joints. Physical and psychological relaxation is felt rather quickly. The first dose will have an effectiveness of 3 to 4 hours, then, after a regular dose providing your endocannabinoid system with the sufficient quantity, its effectiveness will be rather constant and comfortable. We can then space out the intake of CBD or other types of cannabinoids by 6 to 8 hours between each dose.

SPORTSMEN: it will allow athletes to improve their performance, because CBG improves concentration and considerably reduces muscle and joint inflammations due to shocks which place enormous demands on their muscles, tendons and joints. Please note, the THC at 0.3% contained in this sublingual oil is considered doping for high-level athletes, you will then have to move towards a Broad Spectrum sublingual oil at this time, because it is THC-free and does not will therefore not be considered a doping agent.

Buddha Farm's does not currently have this Broad Spectrum oil but can obtain it for you within a few days and compose your oil to the recommended percentage or that you desire.

How to use CBG?

The most common way to produce CBG for consumers is in oil form. You can get the benefits of CBG by using pure CBG oil. However, CBG oils are rare and expensive. The good news is that you can also get some of the benefits of CBG by using broad-spectrum CBD oils. Broad-spectrum CBD oils contain all of the cannabinoids found in a cannabis plant, including CBG, but they do not include THC. When cannabinoids are used together, they can increase the effectiveness of each other through a phenomenon called the entourage effect. VS

BG vs. CBD CBG is often compared to CBD because it shares many similarities and they both act on the endocannabinoid system. CBG and CBD are non-psychoactive, meaning they won't alter your state of mind like THC does. However, they can reduce the psychotropic effect of THC if you consume a cannabis plant.

One of the biggest differences between CBD and CBG is the amount found in most cannabis plants. Most cannabis plants contain only 1% CBG, but up to 25% CBD. The way CBG interacts with our endocannabinoid system is different than CBD. CBG binds directly to CB1 and CB2 receptors and may be more effective in providing its benefits in our systems. Shortage of CBG The difficulties in producing CBG make it very rare. It is much more difficult to produce than other cannabinoids like THC and CBD. Since CBG shares many similarities with CBD, manufacturers prefer to produce CBD.

When CBG is produced, the products derived from it are very expensive. However, CBG has a host of promising potential benefits and more research is being done to facilitate the production and availability of the cannabinoid.

Usage tips :
